American Philanthropy Still Strong Post COVID-19

An experienced entrepreneur, Michael VanErdewyk is active in the FinTech space. Since 2019, Michael Van Erdewyk, CEO and founder has led Bright Bucks Inc., which has created a white label or private label mobile app for non-profit charities to promote their missions and create new revenue streams. The ability to build a tighter community and more deeply engage their members, as well as a way to earn cash rewards for performing tasks or shopping creates new revenue streams for both the non-profit and their members. Members can then use the money or donate it to their nonprofit charity or other approved charities in the country. In this way, Bright Bucks supports philanthropy across the country.

Americans are very philanthropic. In June 2022, Giving USA revealed in its annual Report on Philanthropy that Americans donated $484.85 billion in 2021. This was 4 percent more than they donated in 2020 ($471.44 billion).

Foundations were second with $90.88 billion in donations (19 percent of total contributions). Bequests were third with $46.01 billion (9 percent of donations), and corporations fourth with $21.08 billion (4 percent of donations).

The top cause that Americans donated to was religion, with 27 percent of charitable donations going to religious organizations. Education was second with 14 percent, followed by human services at 13 percent, and grant making foundations at 13 percent.

How Leaders Promote Learning Culture in Organizations

As the founder and CEO of Bright Bucks Inc., Michael VanErdewyk is responsible for overseeing the development, design, and engineering of the fintech rewards app, which includes partnerships with payment solutions, non-profit donor partners, content providers, and card-linked offer networks. Michael Van Erdewyk also draws on his extensive knowledge of entrepreneurship and leadership.

According to research by C-Suite Network, business leaders who simply tell their employees what to do are using an ineffective teaching method. The website, C-SuiteNetwork.com, suggests that humans learn best when emotionally engaged in a topic.

To improve teaching effectiveness, business leaders should strive to evoke emotions during their interactions with employees, including emotions such as compassion, gratitude, and joy. By encouraging the expression of emotions, leaders can help employees assimilate information into their long-term memory. One way to achieve this is by using stories that deliver important messages in a humorous and enjoyable manner.

Another effective teaching approach is to use a coaching method. Rather than simply imparting information, leaders should approach conversations with a curious and open mindset, encouraging employees to share their perspectives and feelings. Doing this can help team leaders identify an employee’s blind spots and trigger relevant adjustments. Once a leader communicates a helpful tip to an employee, they should encourage experimentation and allow a little room for mistakes to be made.
